This We Believe
We believe in the social responsibility of architecture. We don’t believe the cheapest solution is always the best solution. We don’t believe in self-indulgent or esoteric solutions. We want to work on Indian reservations. We want to save our downtowns.
We believe in the old hometown. We want to impact all economic brackets. Sometimes we want to design things that make people uneasy. We want to do simple and economical and we want to do expensive and sophisticated. We want to incorporate the dreams of our clients with our own goals. We want people in South Dakota to want a better quality of life.
We prefer a ’51 Chevy Power Glide to the 2012 Corvette. We want to build iconic buildings. We think old-time a.m. radio is just fine. We want more parks and better libraries. We want to help people be creative and passionate about their work, their hobbies, and their lives. It’s our opinion that smaller (and smarter) can be better. We believe in men’s league hockey on Wednesday nights. We don’t want garages lining the streets we live on. We want front porches. We don’t want more shopping malls, we want more memorable experiences. And we believe that “modern” isn’t a dirty word.
Winston Churchill has an overused line, “We shape our buildings, and then our buildings shape us”.
We believe in Winston Churchill.
